Dr. Michelle A. Lampe and her husband, Aaron Morrison, first began the practice by leasing space in a Rhode Island veterinary clinic, providing after-hours emergency care. But as the demand for emergency services rapidly grew, the need for a larger, independent facility became clear.
In 2007, Mass-RI moved to its current home on Milford Road in Swansea, Massachusetts, where the new facility enabled the hospital to expand its operations and care capabilities. Over the years, they have become a trusted emergency care provider for pets in a wide region stretching from Providence to Cape Cod. The practice has built strong partnerships with local veterinarians, providing after-hours care that supports their clients when emergencies strike.
In recognition of its rapid growth and dedication to quality service, Mass-RI was honored as the Southeastern Economic Development Corporation’s “Small Business of the Year” in 2011.
In 2023, Mass-RI Veterinary ER entered an exciting new chapter by partnering with Pieper Veterinary, a trusted leader in emergency and specialty veterinary services with a strong presence throughout the East Coast. This partnership enhances Mass-RI’s ability to deliver exceptional care by collaborating with a larger network of veterinary experts and resources.
During the height of the COVID-19 pandemic, Mass-RI Veterinary ER adjusted their hours to better meet the demands of their referring veterinarians and pet owners, treating cases during the day while keeping nursing staff on overnights to care for hospitalized patients. These adaptations proved successful and were adopted as the new permanent hours, allowing the hospital to smoothly function as an emergency and urgent care room during the day while also providing 24-hour care for in-hospital cases. Our experienced team of doctors, technicians, and support staff continue to work closely with referring veterinarians to ensure seamless care for every patient.
At Mass-RI Veterinary ER, we are proud to stand by our mission of offering compassionate, high-quality veterinary care to the pets and families of our community.
